Josh Byrne will be presenting Josh’s House: Mainstreaming High Performance Housing at a public seminar held by the Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute and Transition Margaret River.

Josh’s House is an innovative two-lot subdivision project in Hilton WA that demonstrates that high performance homes can be built for a comparable cost and time frame to regular houses. The houses have been thoughtfully positioned for good solar orientation and to maximise gardening space. The homes collect and recycle water and generate their own power. The landscaping includes outdoor living areas built from locally sourced materials, strategic shading, extensive food production, native gardens and engaging play spaces. Detailed monitoring is being undertaken and communicated as part of a high profile research project through Curtin University and the CRC for Low Carbon Living. Josh’s presentation will cover the key design features of the project and the performance data to date.

Britta and Michael Sorenson from Sorenson Architects will also be presenting at the event covering Sustainable Buildings in the Margaret River Region.
