Dr Josh Byrne will be sharing the research outcomes and practical learnings of the Josh’s House project in a presentation to the NSW Housing Industry of Australia (HIA) member Building & Business Conference.
Titled Mainstreaming High Performance Housing – Josh’s House and Beyond, Josh’s presentation will showcase how energy efficient homes can be built for a similar price and timeframe to typical houses by using mainstream materials and trades. Josh will provide an overview of the design and construction methods used, plus outline the next phase of the CRC’s research that will continue to build awareness of the accessibility of high performance housing.
Detailed monitoring of Josh’s House is undertaken to assess the performance of the various design features and technologies in place, as part of a broader research program on ‘high performance housing’ delivered by Josh through his work with Curtin University’s Sustainability Institute (CUSP) in collaboration with the Cooperative Centre (CRC) for Low Carbon Living.
A key aim of the Josh’s House project is to share data and outcomes with industry, research institutions and government agencies to further our understanding of the benefits of high performance housing.
The Building & Business Conference is part of the three day HIA Sydney Home Show a building & renovation expo being held at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from Friday the 24th March 2017.
